all tribal governments are based on the federal government. so it would behoove them to paid heed to what is happening nationally. it will eventually happen to us. the question isnt if but when. like one of our ex presidents said ‘government is not the solution, government is the problem.’ when politicians were running they assured us there would be no bipartisan politics. now the stimulus bill is bogged down in politics. our government tells us they will bail us out of this crisis by supporting the ones that mismanaged us into this mess.
the current price tag on the bill is $920 billion. one congressman called it an ”aimless spending spree”. some want to trim 100 billion of the fat off, like no rubbers or education help. great they are gonna save us $100 billion, musta been alot of rubbers. so this may only cost us $800 billion. another lawmaker said they didnt want to release any of the ‘’specifics”. right no sense in letting the american people know what is going on, even though 58% of them support the bill according to a gallup poll. like tribal governments who dont like their members knowing what is going on in their business. we doing this for you, so dont worry bout any of the details.
republicans are opposing the bill. john mccain is a vocal critic. so is karl rove, the guy that cant dance. kinda like in tribal politics, the ones that cant get elected raise the most hell. didnt the voters send a message they want something new. the national debt doubled in the last administration. our last president incurred more debt than all of the rest of the presidents put together. and they gave $700 billion to the banking industry. now they say that wasnt enough, the problem is not solved yet. and they gave money to companies that rewarded themselves with huge bonuses despite going under. the last administration kept us in fear of terrorist attacks to justify out of control spending. now they say the democrats will do the same, except it is fear of a depression that will justify spending. so its alright if republicans do it but not the democrats. the american people have become pawns in this game.
some experts say the answer is to spend money to jump start the economy. maybe we going about this wrong. instead of giving it to big industry why not give it to the ones that need it the most. bailout of the ones that have lost their jobs, homes and retirement funds. if spending will stimulate the economy give it to the poor and middle class. they will spend it. like me i would head out the door to buy a flat screen t.v. and a new computer. keeping going green in mind, i would add dual exhaust to my rez mobile to improve my gas mileage. i would continue to fix up my house. if spending is the answer give it to people that will buy american products. big business wont do all that. they will just pocket the money.
some say we need to put more into the countrys infrastructure. to fix the roads and bridges that need it. yeah. why not support small business. most new jobs are created by small businesses. they would do the job as well as any big company. many of them are less cut throat than big business.
i suppose the real fear is government will control more of our lives. accept the king’s shilling, do the king’s bidding. we lost some personal liberties because of our fear of terrorists. what will we lose because of our fear of a global recession. we may have more government control in our lives.
government works programs helped in the last great depression we had but it didnt solve all problems. it took a world war to pull out of that. wars are what caused much of our wild spending. we neglected to take care of business at home while we chased a ghost of an enemy half a world away. if we stopped the war for profit business we would have less enemies to worry about.
this last election sent a message to washington that the american people want more say in their government. so far the politicians are not listening. they cause many of our problems. now it is time for them to fix what they helped create. if not we can vote the lot of them out the next election. thats the way it works in tribal politics. if they wont help us, we send them packing.
