i would say that it is officially spring. we are doing our spring ceremonials which open everything up. i will be allowed to start my garden soon. yesterday the temperature was in the 80s. it is raining today. it probably is too early for morel mushrooms though. gotta have patience with them. they come out when they feel like it. i can wait.
i have been getting ready for gardening. i started some seeds and part of them have sprouted. i bought some plants. i put out cabbage and leek plants by my chicken house. i grow injun beans there but wont plant them for a few months, so i put in cool weather plants. mary bought some flowers so i put them outside the other day. it was kinda warm so they wilted slightly. i brought them back in and watered them. they seem to be all right. gotta get to plants you buy early because they tend to get root bound. i fired up my tiller. it started with only 3 pulls. not bad for sitting all fall and winter.
one sure sign of spring is garage sales. one could probably stock up on k u gear. all the fair weather fans have jumped off the band wagon. while they are whining they miss it that a 33-3 year is a hellva year. so they will unload their ku stuff. i am a fan year round. kinda hated to see cole is going to declare for the nba draft. maybe henry will too but i think it is too early for him. k u just reloads and is always back the next year.
it is an election year. i kinda like that. we should have them every six months. people are nicer to others and help out more. we see people at our ceremonies that never come. lotsa hand shaking goin on. you see candidates actually listening to others. election will end that. i think it dont matter whos in office. the system needs to change and along with that our people. it is not the indian way for a small minority to benefit while the majority does without. we learned bad habits from our chumokman brothers. we patterned our government after theirs. that system also favors the ones at the top. the fort system needs to end. all governments protect themselves and wont allow that to happen. it is nice to listen to the rhetoric though. we buy into the ‘things must change’ and see eventually that they dont.
at any rate the world goes on……
