i just scored a good supply of porcupine hair. it is about a pound and a half. there arent many roach makers around but they can appreciate getting a batch of good porky hair. it is so hard to get. i have been thru this so many times over the past 30 some years that i have made roaches. thanks to the internet i have made contacts with people that get the hair.
too many middlemen drive the price up for porky hair. then there are a few unscrupulous dealers that pull the long hair out and sell it higher and there aint much of it. that is why you dont see many roaches with 10 inch front hair like so many dancers want. it cost so much to get enough 10 inch hair to make one roach. i still have about a pound a half to buy. then another trapper will have a pound of hair for me soon. so i will be busy sorting hair the rest of the winter. then i will make some righteous roaches.
been talking to several rez residents about our water supply. i notice a smell in the water every time i face my face. then lately i notice the taste of the water in my morning cup of coffee. i spend a few bucks to buy fresh roasted coffee beans that i grind myself. the water takes something away. so we have been making coffee with water other than straight from the tap. kinda reminds me of back when the tribe said they were going to get our own water supply. guess that never happened.
i still see the young eagle that flies around near my home. i kinda enjoy seeing it. i look for it every day. i think it is good mojo to see it. might need that since some are predicting the end of the world this year. i tell people that everyday is the end of the world for somebody. i dont see how some can be afraid of dying. we all go sometime. gotta be ready for it. i am not one of the doomsday types. i believe there is a future.
i had some deer meat left that i thawed out when i made some stew. so i cut it up and made some rez jerky out of it. i marinated it in hot sauce. then dried it. havent tasted it yet but am looking forward to eating some. it dont last long when my sons know i have it. i may still have some deer left in the freezer. may have to thaw it out and make jerky out of it sometime this winter.
its hard to get back into a routine after a few days off. i made the most of it. i walked on the tread mill a couple of times. gotta lose some of this per cap weight before i head to peru this spring. i dont know how many miles i have logged on it so far. not enough probably. will keep at it. now back to the routine………
